The installation varies slightly for each type of phone and software platform. But is not generally difficult or time consuming except in the case of iPhone, where you will need to first jailbreak the phone before you can install anything outside of the officially sanctioned Apple App store. The installation does not make any sounds, but you can turn the phone volume down if this is a concern.
