Target phone battery life

My target phone is a sprint HTC Hero. Since installation, the battery is wearing out very quickly. Is there any way to increase the battery life?

He's about to take it to the store to see what is the matter. Should I uninstall the program before he does that and then reinstall after. In other words will they be able to see it and know what it is?

set reportings to longer periods.

if you are tracking gps location all few minutes, sure it will decrease battery life.

usually people will not find anything suspect. if you have the possibility to uninstall or at least deactivate reporting, it should be fine too.

Master-P is right, this is probably because you've set the GPS refresh rate to something very often like every minute or so. Typically, GPS uses more power than anything else, so it should only be set this frequently when actively tracking in real time, but sure GPS takes battery power.
