GPS locations

Recommended Posts

I think there is some confusion about how the GPS and location tracking works. If the phone is outdoors under clear and open sky, thats the only time it can ever get a reliable lock onto a satellite. This is true for all GPS devices. If the phone is indoors or behind obstructions such as buildings, etc., then the program will attempt to get location information from extended network information. This may or may not be completely accurate. It could be very close, or occasionally not. This will only happen if there is no GPS satellite signal available.

If you take the phone outside and get a GPS reading from the device itself at the same time you have the program capturing GPS events, then you should probably see that those reported events will match the same reading you got from the device in your own hands.
